It's winter time and old rock chips quickly turn into cracks in many cases. I had a crack on my !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that went beyond the pale and had to be fixed, well replaced really. I took my car to a local shop in Colorado Springs, at the suggestion of my BMW dealer, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Mark did a fantastic job and it fun to watch him go through the process.

I had read on my forums that Safelite was to be avoided and it was pretty important to go with OEM glass. Well, it turns out the company that makes BMW OEM glass, Pilkington, also makes aftermarket version of the glass for significantly less. My dealer agreed it would be suitable.

Mark removed the windshield wipers and the cowl under them, which was shot completely. The rubber molding was brittle. This isn't a shock since my car is 13 years old.

I think one of the coolest things Mark does is applying the adhesive using a DeWalt drill. Tools always make things cool and more fun. He said this method ensures a better bead for the quick-curing adhesive.

Overall, it only took Mark about 30 minutes to do the work. I enjoyed every second watching him do it. Now my car looks much, much better. The lead-in picture is actually the "after" of before and after.

Same thing just happend to my E90, well It may have been caused by a little mishap while doing some work on the car but a new windshield is needed. Why should I avoid Safelite? I've heard mixed reviews about it on E90post but some people were really satisfied

My dealer and the E46 forums recommended against it. Plus, I prefer small business when I can. In my case, Precise Auto Glass has great Better Business Bureau and Yelp reviews, as well as great reviews on Angie's List.

Ah I see. I can appreciate supporting small businesses, and after reading some reviews of a few local places I'll probably be going that route too. Thanks!
